28 March 2014 - NPS Director Jarvis: National Parks Are Losing Relevancy With Americans
15 March 2014 - Push to Spring Forward 2014
As the 2014 recreational season approaches, it would be prudent for Natural Resources Managers to review their radio operations procedures, user training programs, and equipment functionality status prior to the annual increase in customer tempo at your sites. To assist you in this process, the ACE-IT Radio and Frequency Team has updated its annual fact sheet which is attached for your review and reference.
Remember, your project sites, team members, and customers will get maximum benefit from your radio resources if the equipment is fully functional and staff well trained in its use and operation throughout the year. Equipment not operating properly should be immediately reported to the ESD for repair and return to service as described at the end of the attached document.

Originating Agency Identifier Numbers (ORI)
CECW-ON is continuing to work with Tulsa District to gain Corps-access (on a state-by-state basis) into the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System. We currently have access (have obtained ORI numbers) for Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and are currently working on access for Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Idaho, Washington, Kentucky, Oregon and Texas. ORI numbers make it legal for rangers to call local law enforcement agencies for information on visitors/vehicles. We plan to obtain ORI numbers for all 42 states over the next three years. Further information on this process is included in an April 2000 memorandum from Charlie Hess. In this memo, each district was requested to provide a state-POC for this initiative.
