    Recreate Responsibly
The initial launch of the guidelines and the #RecreateResponsibly campaign was a huge success, reaching more than 100 million people since Memorial Day. Thank you to those who helped share the important message. The guidelines are meant to provide a starting point for getting outside during COVID-19, and as things have evolved in the last six weeks, the guidelines have too. Most importantly, weve added a seventh guideline, Build an Inclusive Outdoors, recognizing that safety in the outdoors is not just about packing the right gear or bringing a face covering but ensuring everyone feels safe and welcome.

Attached is a new toolkit, in English, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese complete with updated guidelines, infographics and draft social messaging for your use. We strongly encourage sharing the new guidelines as widely as possible starting today, before the long weekend; a time when many people are planning outdoor adventures. As many of our Corps parks have reopened, we have started to experience user conflicts and irresponsible recreation practices. This campaign is a reminder to the public that everyone is in this together and needs to do their part to help keep parks open, safe, and healthy for all.

I also want to thank the NRM workforce including volunteers for your continued hard work during the many recent challenges. HQ leadership is well aware that the added complexities of closing sites, reopening and overcrowding create public frustration and management challenges. You have responded with professionalism, innovative ideas and enthusiasm to present a positive image of USACE and have showcased our role in safe outdoor recreation. As we head into the one of the busiest weekends of the year, I ask that you take care of and look out for each other. Follow your training and remember safety first! Hydrate well and take care of your physical and mental health. Do not forget that you are our most important resource!
