Learn Your Job
- Required Trainings
As a new employee with the Corps, there are multiple required trainings that you must complete to learn your job and how to perform it safely. Each employee has an individual development plan (IDP), which is a joint effort developed between you and your supervisor to obtain the training and development you need for your position. These required trainings can be accessed using the Total Employee Development (TED) website. Many of these trainings consist of an initial training and annual refresher trainings to ensure employees maintain a clear understanding of performance and safety expectations. The required courses include but are not limited to:
- Employee Safety Course
- Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP)
- Ethics
- Army Suicide Prevention
- Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Anti-Harassment and No Fear
- Anti-Terrorism Awareness
- Personally Identifiable Information
- Information Assurance (IA)
- OPSEC Training
- Fiscal Law
- Defensive Driving
Other required trainings for Park Rangers include:
- Interpretive Services (PROSPECT)
- Visitor Assistance (PROSPECT 147)
- Motor-Boat Operator Training
- Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Training (OCAT) / Pepper Spray
Other government training opportunities available to employees include the Proponent-Sponsored Engineer Corps Training (PROSPECT) Program (which is managed by the USACE Learning Center (ULC)), the Federal Executive Institute Program, Defense Acquisition University, the Civilian Education System, Army eLearning, and Army Training Requirements and Resources System.
