Across USACEs projects there are over 170 known invasive species for which management actions are necessary. With funding provided through the Aquatic Plant Control Research Program (APCRP), a series of best management practices (BMPs) for specific terrestrial and aquatic plants have been compiled to share information and aid in effective control measures.
The APCRP is the nations only federally-authorized research program that addresses invasive aquatic plants. The APCRP develops effective, economical and environmentally compatible methods for assessing and managing problem aquatic vegetation. Current research focus areas include biological and chemical control, ecological assessment, innovative management strategies and application, and nuisance algae.
