Sign Software

  • Sign Manager User Manual - January 2002 Update

The latest version of the software, Sign Manager 2.2.2., was originally sent out on three 5-¼-in. disks in 1993. Since 5-¼-in. disk drives are hard to find, you or your IM folks can diskcopy the originals onto one 3-½-in. floppy using a machine that has both sizes of drives.

If you do this, just keep in mind that when the installation program asks you to insert the next disk, press ENTER. You will have to have the serial number, 2.10E0001 (these are all zeros) to start the program anew. These numbers must be typed in exactly this way or the program will not work.

If you intend to install the program on a computer different than the one you currently use, do not forget to transfer the data that currently resides in the Project and Orders directories of SM. This is where your inventory and ordering information is stored. Remember that the "Backup" utility in Sign Manager will only backup the inventory, not the orders. You must use DOS or Windows to copy the Orders data onto a floppy disk and transfer it to the new computer.

    Printer Problems?

Program will not print, but it did before new operating system was installed.

To capture printer when using Windows NT Operating System:

      1. Click on "Start, Run" and type cmd into the box, Press "ENTER" to get the DOS prompt.
      2. Type net use and press to see captured drives. If LPT1 is listed, go to step 3.
      3. If not, go to step 4.
      4. Type net use lpt1:/d
      5. Type net use lpt1:\\(printserver_name\printer_name/persistent:yes and press "ENTER".
EXAMPLE: if the print server name is nwwps01 and the printer name is max1-4, you would type in: net use lpt1:\\nwwps01\max1-4/persistent:yes
      6. Type exit to close the DOS window.
