RecSTATUS FAQs

    Q. What is RecSTATUS?
    A. An annual Corps Recreation Program report that gives a snapshot of the most recent FY for which data is available.

    Q. Who developed RecSTATUS?
    A. RecSTATUS was developed by ERDC with input from the RLAT and the field.

    Q. Why do we need RecSTATUS?
    A. RecSTATUS features include:

    • Consistent presentation of project info
    • Stand alone report (print features to be added in future)
    • Easy one-click access point for detailed information on various items without having to be an expert in any of the systems from which the information is pulled (such as OMBIL)
    • Benchmarking tool for managers
    • Project values relative to others
    • % change from previous year’s info
    • Back-check for OMBIL and other data sources

    Q. Is RecSTATUS “behind the castle”?
    A. Yes. RecSTATUS is available to the Corps-only audience on the NRM Gateway.

    Q. What information does RecSTATUS offer now?
    A. RecSTATUS currently FY 2011 snapshot of the recreation business line data with trend information back to FY 2004. Be sure to check the button on the various section headers for definitions of the information displayed

    Q. When will updated FY information be available?
    A. The RecSTATUS Annual Recreation Business Line reports compile data from various data sources to present a Balanced Scorecard and national comparisons on key factors. Due to Recreation Area PSA changes in 2011 as part of VERS modernization, many database realignment issues must be resolved. The RecSTATUS site will be updated with FY 2012 and later reports once the databases are realigned for the purpose of these reports.

    Q. Will District/Division/National benchmarking be available in RecSTATUS?
    A. Lake level views are functional for now. We are developing District, Division and National views.

    Q. Why aren’t there more drill-ins with trend and comparison data available?
    A. RecSTATUS was launched with some examples of trend and comparison information -- see Outcomes & Output page, Recreation Program Summary Visitation for instance. Additional drill-ins and percentile information will be incorporated as the District, Division and National views come on line.

    Q. What do I do if my lake’s information is not correct?
    A. If you see information that is different from what you believe is the actual value, first please confirm what is in OMBIL for your project. If there is a discrepancy in what you currently have in OMBIL and what is being displayed in RecSTATUS, please send an email to Ginny Dickerson with details of the discrepancy. The raw data files will be checked so that necessary corrections can be coordinated in the next data download from the OMBIL contractor.

    Q. Who do I contact with comments and suggestions about RecSTATUS?
    A. Please forward any general comments and suggested improvements for RecSTATUS to Bonnie Bryson.

NOTE: Questions about the National Recreation Program Assessment Tool should be addressed to Christine Wibowo.
