Forest Management Perspective Banner

At a Glance

The goals of forest management are to sustain and enhance the health, vigor, and diversity of the forest to ensure that projects meet authorized purposes and:

    1. support recreation and wildlife management,
    2. protect and improve water quality,
    3. facilitate and improve public use and enjoyment of Corps lands, and
    4. provide sustained yield of quality forest products.

To ensure the sustainability of the resource, accepted forest management practices include insect and disease suppression, timber harvesting, prescribed burning, chemical and mechanical site preparation, and various forest regeneration methods.
