The Corps owns/manages lands, including outgrants to state and other federal agencies, in 43 states in accordance with the Corps Environmental Operating Principles and Forest Cover Act (PL 86-717). Proper management practices ensures healthy and sustainable forests in which projects meet authorized purposes, evolving environmental conditions, and adaptively manage for the benefit of wildlife, water quality, ecological diversity, and public use.
