Strategic Goals
Basic management focuses on doing things right. Strategic management focuses on doing the right things. Many times, we become so preoccupied with daily operations that we forget our ultimate goals, purpose and mission. "Strategy" means being clear about our organization's objectives, being aware of available resources (people, money, equipment, etc.), and being responsive to a dynamic situation/environment. "Planning" means intentionally setting goals (choosing a desired future) and developing an approach to achieving those goals. Accordingly, the Recreation and Environmental Stewardship programs have established the following strategic goals that support the Corps Civil Works Strategic Plan Goals, the Corps overall Strategic Goals, and the Army's overall Strategic Plan Goals.
