    Clean Jordan Lake
The local non-profit organization "Clean Jordan Lake" is working with the US Army Corps of Engineers and other government agencies to combat trash along the shoreline at Jordan Lake. With funding from Biogen Idec Foundation, CJL is sponsoring an Adopt-A-Shoreline program intended to clean shoreline access points that are habitually littered. In addition to this program, CJL sponsors two public clean up events annually and coordinates special events with corporate and civic groups. Over the past three years, CJL has attracted 1,400 volunteers who have removed 5,100 bags of trash (about 51 tons) and 2,500 tires.
