Legends & Beacon Award Request for Nominations S. April 27
Attached is a signed memo to all Division Commanders for nominations for the 2012 American Recreation Coalition's Legends & Beacon Awards, including enclosures spelling out the nominations procedure. The Suspense for nominations is April 27. Request you give this widest appropriate circulation throughout your Division.

American Recreation Coalition (ARC) Legends Award is presented annually to an outstanding Corps individual for his/her significant contributions to the enhancements of outdoor recreation resources, facilities, and experiences on the nation's public lands. The Legends Awardee is selected by the Corps. The Beacon Award recognizes the outstanding initiatives where new technologies have provided improved, cost-effective solutions to the needs of the recreation programs and visitor services. The Beacon Award is selected by an outside panel, convened by the American Recreation Coalition.

Each Division can submit one nominee for each award. The attachments provide detailed instructions for the nominations.

These are prestigious awards given by each federal land management agency and demonstrate our agency's commitment to excellence. It is always an honor for the Corps to participate in this interagency awards program. Questions and submissions should be directed to Heather Burke (503-808- 4313).
