1979 |
ERDC contracted with Urban Research and Development Corporation for a recreational carrying capacity research study of selected Corps projects. A 1979 RecNotes article stated that "[t]he main purpose of the total carrying capacity research effort is to develop a methodology for determining carrying capacity for Corps project area activities and situations, to identify and evaluate design and management techniques, to influence carrying capacity, and to prepare a user manual offering practical guidelines for determining and dealing with recreational carrying capacity at Corps projects." |

Urban Research and Development Corporation published a series of reports issued on results of carrying capacity studies at selected Corps projects (see References) |
1988 |
Baltimore District, Raystown Lake, PA, had a Boating Capacity Evaluation completed by Pennsylvania State University |
1994 |
Mobile District, Lake Sidney Lanier, GA, completed an Environmental Impact Study, which included a Private Boat Dock Carrying Capacity Study completed by Tetra Tech, Inc. of Fairfax, VA |
1998 |
Fort Worth District, Lewisville Lake, TX, issued a contract including a Scope of Work for a 1998 Water-Related Recreation Use Study (WRRUS). The Final Report was issued in December of that year. The Introduction section of the WRRUS gives the background information explaining the need to conduct the study, which was accomplished by Geo Marine, Inc. of Plano, TX. |
1999 |
Fort Worth District, Water-Related Development Policy (WRDP) issued for Lewisville Lake, which was adopted at the conclusion of the WRRUS. |
2000 |
Fort Worth District, Supplemental Environmental Assessment, Water-Related Recreation Development issued, which assesses the impacts of various alternatives for the location and size of new and expanded marinas that resulted from the WRRUS. |
2001 |
Little Rock District, Greers Ferry Lake, AR, Recreational Carrying Capacity Study completed by Tetra Tech, Inc. of Fairfax, VA |
2002 |
Fort Worth District, District-wide WRDP developed by administratively applying key findings from the Lewisville Lake WRRUS to the entire Ft. Worth District. |
2005 |
Fort Worth District, Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for a new boat ramp at Canyon Lake, TX. The FONSI explains how the District-wide WRDP was applied to this action. |
