  • Recreation News Volume 7 Issue 4 (13 November 2025)
I’m thrilled to share this post-shutdown issue of The Recreation Retreat with all of you! Our goal remains to keep the field informed and connected on national recreation program initiatives, and this quarterly HQUSACE publication is one of the key ways we share updates, success stories, and helpful resources across the NRM Community of Practice.

      This quarter’s issue includes:

      • Sustaining Access to Recreation Facilities – Getting familiar with the enterprise strategy to increase capacity and sustain access to the USACE REC program in FY26, despite resource challenges. Learn more on the NRM Knowledge Management Portal and NRM Gateway.
      • National Public Lands Day – Inspiring examples of teamwork with our volunteer and partner orgs.
      • Park Ranger Celebrates 50 Years of Service – A heartfelt THANK YOU for an incredible milestone and dedication to USACE!
      • Recreation Around USACE – Highlights from across our busy recreation community.
      • America the Beautiful Digital Passes – Helpful tips and resources to support implementation.
      • Staying Connected through the NRM Gateway – Practical tips to enhance your engagement. …and much more!

This newsletter reflects our collective effort to communicate the evolving story of the USACE Recreation Program. We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed articles and updates—your input helps strengthen collaboration and celebrate the outstanding work happening across the enterprise. If you have stories you’d like to see highlighted in one of the next issues, please send ideas directly to Tara Whitsel at Tara.J.Whitsel@usace.army.mil.
