Park Service Park Ranger on 1 Jan 2012, and what lessons USACE could learn from this
incident. Please distribute to the project level.
Further, as many of you know,
National Park Service Park Ranger Margaret Anderson was fatally shot during the line of
duty at Mt. Rainier National Park on 1 January 2012. Ranger Anderson had served with
the National Park Service for 11 years. She is survived by her husband, who is also a park
ranger at Mt. Rainier, and two young children.
A memorial service to celebrate the
life of Ranger Anderson will be held on Tuesday, 10 January, 1 p.m., at Pacific Lutheran
University in Tacoma, Washington. Mr. Dru Butterfield, the Natural Resources Manager at
the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, Seattle District, will be attending the service. Mr.
Butterfield will proudly represent the Corps as a grateful nation pays tribute to a fallen
fellow Park Ranger.
