    Reservoir Fisheries Partnership Nomination Selections
As you may recall, in August of 2011 this office forwarded information to the field concerning information on submitting nominations to the Reservoir Fisheries Partnership for aquatic habitat projects to improve recreation fishing. It's my pleasure to inform you that three Corps project nominations were recently approved for funding.

The Reservoir Fisheries Habitat Partnership Steering Committee is composed of fisheries chiefs from thirty eight states, Corps (NRM), Reclamation, US F&WS, BLM, NOAA, B.A.S.S., BASS Pro, and other representatives. Six of the top twenty nominations included proposals on Corps reservoirs. Reservoir project personnel worked with representatives of State Fisheries Groups, friends of lakes organizations and others to develop proposals for F&WS funding for the proposed improvements. Of the nine proposals selected for funding, the three Corps project selected were Smithville Lake, Lake Ouachita, and W. Kerr Scott Lake. Lake Greeson, Blue Mountain, and Lake Shelbyville were also in the running.

The state fisheries chiefs were impressed with the quality of the Corps nominations and project staff innovation and dedication to improving aquatic habitat to support recreational fishing. I applaud and congratulate you for your efforts and for demonstrating once again that the Corps is the Federal Government agency leader for stewardship and recreation.

Dependent on what the F&WS budget is for FY 12, there may be considerable funds (1 - 3 M) to fund proposals for FY 13 (FY 11 budget was 90 K) . Request for FY 13 proposals should be forwarded to the field in the August 2012 timeframe. Again, my congratulations and thanks to all who participated in the FY 12 process.

    Sincerely, Tim
