    National Public Lands Day Update
Please read the below message regarding this year's National Public Lands Day on September 24th. This year NPLD features a new website www.publiclandsday.org, which should make it easier to modify information pertaining to your event. The National Environmental Education Foundation is very enthusiastic about the Corps participation in NPLD. In the past, we have hosted more events than any other agency. This year the Corps will still be at the forefront while supporting The First Lady's Let's Move Outside initiative.

Please register your sites at http://www.publiclandsday.org/register-site. As mentioned below, register even if you don't have all the details. NEEF wants the information in their system early to assist with preparations. Also, I will use the registration data to update our the Corps Let's Move Outside events.

    -------------------------------

    Hello everybody!

National Public Lands Day is only a few months away and we have some updates.

The date for NPLD this year is September 24th.

This year we are supporting the efforts of The First Lady's Let's Move Outside initiative. We are currently working on boosting National Public Lands Day's connection to health. Not only do we want to promote volunteerism as a healthy activity, but also encourage site managers to host and/or promote recreational activities such as nature hikes, runs, bike rides, and other physical activities on NPLD. We will be working hard to provide resources for all our site managers to tap into to help provide these opportunities. Currently, we are working with the US Public Health Service to assist in delivering information to our site managers and volunteers on the benefits of getting outdoors and moving. More details to come soon.

The other big news for us is that we've just launched our updated website. Please stop by www.publiclandsday.org and check out the site. It has a cleaner look, updated registration process and has social media sharing tools embedded directly in the site. Site managers who register will be given a username and password. Once registered and logged in, site managers can edit their information whenever they want. No more calling our office to request changes!

We do ask that our members of our Federal Agency Steering Committee start reaching out to the field and requesting that those who are interested in organizing NPLD volunteer activities, start registering as soon as possible. http://www.publiclandsday.org/register-site Even if they don't have all the details, we want that information in our system early to help us prepare. With our new website system, they can always come back and edit registration info.

Thank you for your continued involvement and support of National Public Lands Day. We look forward to another banner year with our great partners and volunteers! Look forward to more updates from me as we make our way towards September.

    Any questions, please contact me.
