Update of Policy Guidance on Park Closures
1. The policy guidance makes changes in the evaluation process for conducting a review and determining a course of action of potentially significant changes in park operations at Corps facilities and non-Corps facilities, including consideration of park closures. It supersedes guidance previously provided in CECW-CO Memorandum, 06 March 2006, copy attached.

2. This policy supplements the USACE National Recreation Program Strategic Plan and the RecStatus self-assessment tool. It provides a comprehensive evaluation process for conducting a review of potentially significant changes in park operations.

3. It is no longer Corps policy to immediately close, without recourse, leased areas turned back to the Corps. Areas may be re-assessed in accordance with this guidance for closure or an alternative change in park operations.
