    White Nose Syndrome in Bats
The list of states closing their caves to human activity due to White Nose Syndrome (WNS) currently includes Missouri, Virginia and Illinois. See the following link: http://www.caves.org/WNS/ for updates, information and resources; WNS appears to be spreading.

Recommend that Projects with caves (regardless of spelunking activity) contact their State wildlife management agencies to assess whether actions are required or recommended for Corps lands. Some States have put Action Plans in place. Please report back to this office if WNS has a significant impact on any of your Projects and please forward State Action Plans that may apply so that we can share preventive measures among the NRM community.

    Thank you!
    Betsey Kimmerly
