National Natural Resources Management/Operations Project Managers Conference Announcement
I am pleased to announce the upcoming Natural Resources Management Conference March 16-18, 2010, in Nashville, TN. The theme of the conference is "Making a Difference on the Ground." The conference will focus on topics that will help on-the-ground personnel conserve and manage our natural resources, facilities, visitors, while preparing for the future.

The program will include a number of opportunities to share and learn from participants, in addition to presentations on current issues, opportunities, and demonstrations of new tools, concepts, best practices, and lessons learned. This will be an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and address the challenges we face in our on-the-ground management capabilities.

We are planning for approximately 400 participants from all levels of the Corps. The allocations list for participants from each MSC, by District, is attached. District NRM chiefs will be responsible for collecting the names of those interested in attending and working with their MSC to finalize the list of all participants from each MSC. The allocation numbers do include the OPMs. Speakers, facilitators, poster presenters and others helping with the conference will not be counted against the allocated slots for each MSC.

Immediately following the NRM Conference, the National Operations Project Managers (OPM) Conference will be held at the same venue on March 18-19. The focus of the OPM Conference will primarily be on issues associated with the hydropower, flood risk management, and navigation business lines. OPMs with responsibilities in the recreation, environmental stewardship business lines and environmental compliance should attend the NRM conference. The participants at the OPM conference are OPMs, District and MSC Operations leadership, and HQ staff.

It is very important that participants be notified as soon as possible. Only selected participants should register for the conference on the website. The website will be available on 18 January at http://www.team-psa.com/usace_nrm/home.asp.

The NRM and OPM Conference Chair is Mr. Larry Bogue, SWD. Mr. David White, NWK, is the chair of the NRM program task group. If you have any questions, you can contact Larry, 469-487-7062, David, 816-389-3361, or Mary Coulombe, 202-761-1228.

The OPM Conference contacts are: Chair of OPM program group, Tim Fudge, LRH, 304-962-2156 (new phone number); and Keith Crowe, backup contact for OPM conference and agenda, 706-213-3401.

We look forward to both of these Conferences and I want to thank the conference planning teams, program committees and the many volunteers already involved for all of the work they are doing to make these events a success in such a short period of time. Great job!
