Boy Scout Jamboree 2010 Exhibits for Conservation Trail, Suspense 30 September
The US Army Corps of Engineers 2010 BSA National Jamboree Committee is currently developing an Agency exhibit area on the Conservation Trail at the July, 2010 National Jamboree (100th Anniversary of the Scouts!). The Jamboree will be held at Ft. A.P. Hill, VA and will draw thousands of participants from throughout the world. During the ten day National Jamboree period, the site at Ft. A.P. Hill will become Virginia's fifth largest city with approximately 43,000 resident campers and thousands of daily walk in visitors. State and Federal Natural Resource Agencies from throughout the nation will host exhibits along this Conservation Trail. In many respects, the Jamboree is a huge career fair, offering an opportunity to showcase agency missions to highly motivated youth and adult leaders as well as the national media.
The Jamboree Committee is currently developing the "Corps" message with a goal of capitalizing on the unique interactive exhibits currently used at many of our projects. Electricity, water, and shelter are available at the exhibit site. If your project has an exhibit that you feel could be incorporated into the Jamboree "Corps Story", please send a brief description of the exhibit, support requirements and a photograph for consideration. The Committee is looking for exhibits with the following attributes: computer animated or supported exhibits, exhibits which foster interaction - either as a stand alone display or as supported by an onsite interpreter. While focusing on Natural Resource and Recreation missions, the Committee will incorporate messages to demonstrate the contributions of our Navigation and Hydropower missions.
Please send information on your exhibit to David K. White NWK and Miles S. Johnson SWL, by 30 September. This will be a terrific event to showcase and raise the visibility of the Corps, what we do, and how we contribute to American's lives. Please take time to respond if you have an exhibit (s) that you think might fit this event.
