Handshake Challenge Partnership Program 2009 - Suspense 15 October 2009
Steve Stockton, Director of Civil Works, signed the memorandum announcing the Handshake Challenge Partnership Program 2009. This program provides an incentive to Corps projects to utilize partnering initiatives to their fullest potential. This program is in its sixth year and offers an additional funding source (i.e., seed money) to Corps installations for worthwhile challenge partnership projects. This funding can be used for both recreation and environmental stewardship partnerships.

Electronic applications with district and MSC coordination must be received by Michael Hosey, SAD representative on the Partnership Advisory Committee, NLT 15 September 2008. Recipients will be announced by 31 October 2007.

This program is very important to our current and future partnership programs. Participation in the program is essential for our continued funding. Therefore, we need to see a diversity of applications that represent a broad range of projects. As you all know, we have to grow our partnerships to better leverage our limited resources and this is an excellent way to do that.

Please give this program your support and attention and contact Michael if you have any questions concerning this.

    Respectfully,
    Mary J. Coulombe
