Results of the Recreation Stakeholders meeting
Many of you have asked over the last several months about the results of the Recreation Stakeholders meeting held in October 2002 in Nashville, TN. I promised to send out the results of the meeting as soon as they became available. I have just received the final report from our contractor. I am quite pleased with the result. If you read nothing else in the report, I highly recommend that you read pages 13-24. This is Chapter III which provided the Outcomes and Recommendations. This part is the guts of the report and we will use it in planning our future endeavors. This is the start of our efforts to communicate better with our stakeholders. It will be a great help to us as we plot the course for the future of the Corps Recreation Program. I believe it will be a dynamic process that will evolve as we move forward and will include more stakeholders meetings. I found many of the results to be enlightening. Several of them reported deficiencies in our operations and a few pointed out where we are doing a good job. I believe this is a valuable document and I encourage you to share it with the Operations Managers and others at the project level.
