IMBA Trail Care Crew 2008 requests - Suspense 2 November 2007
This is a great opportunity to work with your community and one of our national partners, the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). To see examples of how the Corps has benefited from this program, go to: Partners in Action

November 2 is the deadline to submit requests for 2008 Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew visits. Apply online at: http://go.imba.com/tccapplication

    Debra J. Stokes, CPRP

Subject: IMBA Trail Care Crew 2008
I just wanted to remind you all that we are now accepting applications for 2008 Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew visits. Last year, due to a miscommunication, we didn't have as many projects on federal land as we'd have liked. So, please forward this along to your field offices so they can apply if they're interested. Here is the basic information:

"Over the past decade, the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews have taught hundreds of grassroots volunteer groups, big and small, to build better trails. The crew has conducted countless trailbuilding schools throughout the country to help spread the IMBA gospel. What began as a small field program to educate trail users is now a flagship program that offers a wide variety of services.

Are your trails suffering? Are your best volunteers feeling burned out? Can your agency's partnership with your local IMBA club be improved? Do you need more volunteers? Does your area need more or better trail opportunities? Check out some of the projects (http://www.imba.com/tcc/2007/index.html) that the crews have worked on recently.

Most local riding communities can benefit from the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews expertise. The crew offers many valuable services, including:

  • External assessment of area trails and potential expansion of opportunities
  • Expert training on sustainable trail design, construction and maintenance
  • Club building assistance
  • Partnership development assistance

The Nov. 2 deadline to submit requests for 2008 Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew visits is fast approaching. Apply for a 2008 visit online (http://go.imba.com/tccapplication).

IMBA events are generally free and open to the public. For more information on the program, contact Spencer Powlison (spencer@imba.com) or visit the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew Website (http://www.imba.com/tcc/index.html)."

Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for the support.

    Best regards,
    -- Spencer
