Advance Notice - Fee Free Coupon for NPLD
Debra Stokes and I have been working with the other Federal agencies to develop a Recreation Fee Free Coupon to acknowledge and reward volunteers who participate in National Public Lands Day (NPLD) activities, as part of the Take Pride in America program. The idea is to give a coupon to NPLD participants that would be good for free entrance to DOI and USDA parks for one day or for free day use for one day at Corps parks. The coupon would be issued on NPLD 18 September 2004 and would be valid until NPLD in September 2005.

Some advance material and a news release have been distributed prematurely about this program, <http://www.NPLD.com> so you may receive some inquires. This message is intended to assure you are aware of this effort and provide you some general information to use in answering any questions.

We will develop specific guidance in the coming months for issuing and accepting these coupons thorughout the period they are valid. The guidance will be delivered to you later this summer via a CECW-CO memorandum, well before the starting date of 18 September.

    Thank you,
    Judy Rice
