URGENT: US Army Corps Sites that Have 2021 Military Passes with 2 Signatures - Must be Destroyed
Due to recent events regarding changes to the Military Pass (adding Veterans and Gold Star families) the new 2021 passes are already obsolete. Any that you have received with the two signature lines must be destroyed per the email below. ith the implementation of DOI Secretarial Order 3387 and the expansion of the Military Pass, sites need to destroy Military Passes with 2 signature lines and re- order new 2021 passes from USGS. Background: A new Military Pass for 2021 has been designed with only 1 signature permitted (Current military dependents or Gold Star family members who are dependents will need to get their own pass). 500,000 of this new design were ordered and should be delivered to USGS by Dec. 16th or so. Field sites that have submitted orders should expect to get new passes around the 1st or 2nd week in January. USGS was requested to STOP processing orders of the 2-signature, 2021 military passes. USGS will hold bulk order requests for Military Passes until they have the new 1-signature passes in stock and can ship them out per above bullet. 2020 military passes (with 2 signatures) can still be ordered from USGS while supplies last, and issued to visitors for immediate use. (No 2020 passes should be sold after Dec. 31). If a site has already ordered and received the 2021 2-signature Military Passes they should NOT issue them. 2021 Military Passes with 2-signatures should be destroyed (according to your agency's requirements) and sites should re-order the 1-signature Military Pass from USGS. This is to try to minimize confusion going forward with regard to different military pass versions being issued. Note that should a site run out of 2020 or 2021 Military Passes, visitors can still show their military or veterans ID or Gold Star voucher for entry without a pass. The 2021 SOP's are being revised and will be re-shared as soon as they are ready. Plans are in the works for mid-January to publicize the expansion of the military pass and the change to single signature etc. Coordination with agency communications offices is needed/appreciated.
