2020 National Water Safety Conference: Call for Presentations and Plan to Attend
This message is for everyone that is doing great things regarding water safety. There are a lot of you out there, which is very much appreciated and here is an opportunity that I encourage you to take advantage of that will give you a chance to showcase your great work to others.

The call for presentations for the 2020 National Water Safety Conference is now open. Deadline to submit a presentation is September 6, 2019.

Here is the link to submit a presentation. https://www.ndpaconference.org/call-for-speakers

This is a great conference to attend even if you don't want to be a presenter. The 2020 National Water Safety Conference will be in Fort Worth, TX April 5 -9, 2020. This conference was formerly call the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) Educational Conference, but they have changed the name of the conference to the National Water Safety Conference because they want to showcase and present topics regarding all aspects of water safety including those pertaining to swimming in open water and pools, boating, rescue and recovery, first responders, etc. The conference agenda will be available in October. I will send the agenda out agency-wide as soon as it is available, but for now mark your calendars to attend this conference.

As with all conferences we attend you will need to get your supervisor's approval and then submit a conference approval package up through your district to your division for approval. I recommend that if you are interested in attending this conference that you ask your supervisor for approval then talk to your District Water Safety POC to see if they will help with consolidating a conference approval package for those within your district that would like to attend this conference. District Water Safety POCs you might want to work together to consolidate all of your information and list of attendees into one conference approval package and then submit it up to your division for approval. Do whatever your district and division conference approval POCs recommend regarding this.

Here is a link to the presentations that were presented at this year's conference. There were some good presentations presented this year and just keep in mind at the 2020 conference there will be even more presentations regarding the things we are involved in when it comes to water safety. https://spaces.hightai l.com/space/Xv5pzu68e4/files

Submit your presentations, plan to attend, and I'll see you in Fort Worth!

If you have any questions about this conference let me know.

Thanks and Be Safe - Pam

National Water Safety Program Manager, HQUSACE
