USACE 2018 Natural Resource Management Award - Hiram M. Chittenden Award for Interpretive Excellence
On behalf of the Chief of Engineers, I am pleased to announce the following selections for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chief of Engineers Natural Resources Management Award Program for 2018. We received an exceptional array of candidates and all are worthy of recognition. I appreciate your staff taking the time to nominate and recognize your best. The Hiram M. Chittenden Award for Interpretive Excellence recognizes contributions in interpretation and environmental education that produce a positive experience for visitors and enhance public understanding of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Ms. Shawna Polen, Natural Resource Specialist from Canton Lake in Tulsa District is this year's winner of the Hiram M. Chittenden Award for Interpretive Excellence. Through her determination and innovative efforts, Ms. Polen uses interpretation to address management issues and creates new interpretive products, such as a new Junior Ranger app, to reach a wider visitor audience. Ms. Polen's support of Corps missions through interpretive services is commendable and an asset the project, region and Army Corps of Engineers.
