USACE Small Boat Operator Training Program - Suspense: 20 October 2017
The attached memorandum directs the Natural Resources Management branch to conduct a thorough review of the Corps Small Boat Operator Training program with a focus on specific areas of concern, including avoidance maneuvers, and to oversee the revision of applicable regulations. To do this, NRM will form a PDT with representation from each MSC. This is a high priority action. As I state in the memo, the focus is on having a boat training program that prepares our operators for the conditions they will encounter in the course of their duties while mitigating the risk in the performance of these duties.

We will discuss in the weeks ahead. Each MSC should submit up to three nominations by 20 October 2017 to Stephen Austin, stephen.b.austin@usace.army.mil. One individual per MSC will be selected. The PDT responsibilities are specified in the memorandum.
