Forest Health Protection Program - Free Money. Suspense 19 October 2016
The US Forest Service (USFS) is continuing their annual Forest Pest Suppression Program in FY17. This program is a great opportunity for Projects to get assistance and 100% FREE funding from the USFS if they are experiencing problems such as gypsy moths, oak wilt, southern pine beetles, laurel wilt, or many other forest health issues.
FY17 Proposals for funding are due no later than close of business on 19 Oct. I apologize for the short suspense. The attached letter has a link (Blockedwww.fs.fed.us/foresthealth/docs/pest_project_proposal_fs_3400_2.doc)Bl ocked to the form needed for project proposal. Please coordinate with the appropriate USFS Regional Office with questions regarding your specific project proposal. Completed proposals should be submitted to Jeremy Crossland, Jeremy.M.Crossland@usace.army.mil and Ryan Braaten, Ryan.C.Braaten@usace.army.mil by the close of business 19 October so they can be put into the system before the USFS deadline of 28 Oct. Proposals should be focused on eradication and suppression of forest pests, not on prevention. Project proposed should have strong justifications in the remarks section as there will be limited program funds in FY 17. Funding typically ranges from $1,000 to $75,000 per proposal. Please note in your email with the proposal whether or not your project is scalable and could be successful with partial funding. This program yielded approximately $175,000 last year for the projects in the Northeast and focused on Emerald Ash Borer and Gypsy Moth. Please forward to any of those you feel might be interested in submitting a proposal from the district and project level.
