Revision of EC 1100-1-106: "Acquisition and Operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Technology", to Include Public Use of UAS at Corps Projects
The attached EC 1110-1-106, "Acquisition and Operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Technology", has been revised in part to address the public and commercial operation of UAS systems (Unmanned Air Vehicle or Drones) at Corps water resources development projects (see paragraph 11). Title 36 (36 CFR, Chapter III, Part 327 .4) prohibits the operation of aircraft (including UAS systems), except in locations designated by the District Commander. Title 36 delegates this authority to authorized representatives of the District Commander who can determine the specific locations and/or specific conditions where the public and commercial entities can safely operate UAS systems. The revised EC provides the parameters that should be used in making decisions on the location and uses of UAS.

This continues to be a growing challenge for our field professionals and our projects nationally.
