    Great Outdoors Month
Great Outdoors Month is less than a week away! There are still events included in Great Outdoors Month for your projects to take advantage and be a part of. These national days are perfect opportunities to increase visitation at your parks and bring new visitors in through a wide variety of recreational experiences. Most of these events are easy to facilitate and participate in. Check out the Great Outdoors Month Website here http://www.greatoutdoorsmonth.or g/ and details about remaining events are below!

PARTNERS OUTDOORS-June 2-4, 2015: The American Recreation Coalition will be hosting their annual Partners Outdoors conference next week here in DC. A large portion of Partners Outdoors will be available for viewing by live-streaming feed.

Attached is a flyer with more information on each day's live-streaming schedule, topics and speakers, as well as the link to watch it live (www.doi.gov/live)

NATIONAL TRAILS DAY- June 6, 2015:
The Corps has over 11,000 miles or trails that allow the public to access all kinds recreation, education, exploration, and much more. This day is a perfect opportunity to organize a crew of volunteers to help clean up, restore or discover a trail you may have at your project! To become involved in National Trails Day by hosting an event, visit http://www.americanhiking.org/NTDRegisterYourEvent.aspx

NATIONAL GET OUTDOORS (GO) DAY- June 13, 2015: GO Day offers encourages Americans, especially ou
r youth, to seek out healthy, active outdoor lives and embrace our public lands and waters. Events can include:

  • Nature Walks
  • Geocaching
  • How to pitch a tent
  • How to build a campfire
If you're looking for ideas on how to get started or need promotional materials, check out the GO Day website: http://w ww.nationalgetoutdoorsday.org/getinvolved/promotion/

Again, these are all great options for bringing visitors to your park, exposing them to outdoors and making them aware of all the great recreational opportunities the Corps has to offer! If you are hosting an event on one of these days, I encourage you to go the event website and register! This allows potential visitors to gain information about your site as well as advertise all the great things you are doing at your project. Please feel free to contact me or Heather Burke, National Partnership Program Manager if you would like to learn more about Great Outdoors Month activities or have questions about hosting an event!
