Volunteer Manager Training Modules
The Corps of Engineers, along with 11 other federal land management agencies comprising the Federal Interagency Team on Volunteerism (FITV) have been granted an unlimited use license to use the "Training Busy Staff to Succeed with Volunteers: The 55-Minute Training Series" by Betty Stallings (see attachment). This was made possible by the FITV partnership and purchase of the license by the Department of Interior for our use.
These materials are intended to train all staff who interface with volunteers, and are broken into 12 individual modules which single out a specific topic such as interviewing, delegation, recognition, etc. Each module has a trainer's guide for presenting the topic, a PowerPoint presentation, handouts, and evaluation forms.
Our permissions allow us to copy, print, and modify the training material as much as we would like. The only restriction is that we may not make electronic copies of the complete work to give, sell, or loan to any other organization or individual outside the FITV agreement. The materials will be posted on the Gateway on the Volunteer Program Training page https://corpslakes.erdc.dren.mil/employees/training.cfm? Id=volunteer&View=Yes and the Partnerships Training page http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/employees/training.cfm?Id=partner&View=yes, with viewing restricted to Corps use only.
The program is set up to make it easy for District or Project Volunteer Program Managers/Coordinators to conduct training sessions for newly hired staff, at staff meetings, ranger conferences, with cooperating associations, or other similar opportunities. I will also present the modules via a series of webinars from February-August, 2015. Stay tuned for future announcements of dates and times for the webinar training sessions.
