Over Flights of USACE Projects by Unmanned Drone Type Aircraft
Our office has received several inquiries from field offices regarding the Corps regulation on
unmanned drone-type aircraft flying over USACE projects. We have coordinated with HQ
Counsel and HQ Operational Protection Division and have determined that 36 C.F.R, Part 327.4
does apply to unmanned drone aircraft. Title 36 prohibits all aircraft (including drones) from
operating over project lands, except over project lands designated by the District Commander.
Please see the attached Operational Protection Message for more details.
