    FY13 OMBIL - Recreation Data Update - Suspense 29 November 2013
OMBIL Recreation is now open and available for data entry by the field.

    Key Notes:
PowerPoint presentations are available on the OMBIL webpage. Click on Users Manuals and Reference Material. https://ombil.usace.ar my.mil/MainFrames/BusinessFrame.htm

No webinars are scheduled for this update period. The OMBIL NRM Users Group is available for questions and assistance with the data entry process. Please call or email your representative or myself. A list of the NRM Users Group members and the Division/District POCs is attached.

Changes for this year: several new facilities/amenities have been added to assist with the VERS modernization and the Federal Highways program.

  • Marina
  • Boat Rentals (Yes = 1, No = 0)
  • Gas Availability (Yes = 1, No = 0)
  • Other
  • Building, Administrative, or Maintenance
  • Hydropower Plant
  • Lock
  • Traffic Counter
  • Roads
  • Miles Paved Total (lane miles)
  • Road Condition (percentage of total 7 categories as in RecBEST)
  • Miles Unpaved Total (lane miles)
  • Road Condition (percentage of total 7 categories as in RecBEST)
  • Please remember, if your project has both a recreation and environmental stewardship function, then citations, partnerships, interpretive contacts, and special events should be entered under OMBIL Recreation.

Under the Interpretive Contacts section, please refer to the definition for unique messages (indirect contacts): A unique message is no direct contact by Corps personnel, i.e. PSA's, bulletin board announcements, radio and TV interviews, and imprinted messages sponsored by the project, etc. Do NOT report numbers of people or the number of times a message is run, but rather, the total number of unique messages or events. Exhibits or booths at large events such as boat shows and fairs where no or very brief contact was made with the exhibit or staff should also be reported as one (1) indirect (unique message) contact. Since this category is counting events and not people, the number in this field should normally be fairly small. At this time, please treat social media messages such as Facebook, Twitter, Lake websites, etc. the same as unique messages.

For Recreation PSAs formerly identified as having a Cooperative Management Park Lease or Agreement in OMBIL, that indicator has been removed. No action in OMBIL needed by the field.

For those projects that split, combined, or added new PSAs, please make sure the facility information is correct for each PSA. At this time, there should not be any Corps Managed PSAs showing a marina as a facility.

AT the end of this fiscal year, the OMBIL NRM Users Group will need 3 new members (one representing NAD, one representing SWD, and one at large member). An announcement will come out in the future through the appropriate chains, so if you are interested or know someone that would be a good fit for the team, keep this in mind. A group charter is posted on the OMBIL webpage. Click on Users Manuals and Reference Material. https://ombil.usace.ar my.mil/MainFrames/BusinessFrame.htm
