Today is World Ranger Day
Today, 31 July, is World Ranger Day, sponsored by the International Ranger Foundation and
celebrated each year in honor of Park Rangers everywhere, and in memory for those for have
sacrificed their lives in the protection of our natural and cultural resources. Last year, 85
rangers worldwide lost their lives in the line of duty.
Attached is a letter to all rangers by Prince William (Duke of
Cambridge), a Memorial Honour List for 2013, a
Happy World Ranger Day Sign, and a video message from Dr Jane
Goodall.
Sean Willmore, President of the International Ranger Foundation, encourages you to
print and use the above materials, especially for park rangers, supporters and other
contacts. Mr. Willmore requests:
For 1) The Honour List : please pause or mark the occasion in your own way to pay
your respects to our fallen colleagues
For 2) Prince Williams Letter: Please use and
share his lovely letter, but please respect this letters intent and do not reproduce on
other letter heads or use it in any advertising.
For 3) Happy World Ranger Day Sign:
Please print this up and fill it in with where you are, or Ranger group name, your
supporters group, or your personal name; take a photo of you with it; and please send it
to me and post on our facebook pages! I can't wait
to see the pictures from all over the World!
To our Rangers - Thank you for all you
do against the odds for conservation of our natural World. This is your day to be proud of all
you do - on each and every day! To our Supporters- we can't do it without
you- and on behalf of the Rangers around the World - a heartfelt thank you!
