May 18: Kids to Parks Day
The National Park Trust (NPT) is once again partnering with the Corps for National Kids to Parks Day (KTP) - a nationwide day of outdoor play. Last year, nearly 5,000 parents and children enjoyed a KTP event at one of 19 participating Corps of Engineers lakes in their community. This year's KTP Day will be held on Saturday May 18, 2013. To learn more about the day visit www.kidstoparks.org

NPT has made it simple for the Corps to participate in this year's event and will create a customized page for events held at Corps sites. Do not feel like you have to create a new special event, but please consider promoting existing activities planned for the week leading up to or on May 18th.

To participate: 1) Visit http://www.kidstoparks.org/event- registration and complete the registration form

    2) Download the online toolkit to help plan your event at http://www.kidstoparks.org/event-search/resources-toolkit and check out the other great resources such as posters, press releases, logos, and suggested activities.

    3) Encourage your community to subscribe to the event by pledging to take their child or group of children to a local park on May 18 at http://www.kidstoparks.org/

    4) Stay connected with NPT and email Education Director Billy Schrack; william@parktrust.org with any pictures, descriptions, changes or updates to your event.

Hosting a Kids to Parks Day event is an excellent way to support the America's Great Outdoors and Let's Move Outside initiatives. Please feel free to contact me or Billy for more information.

    Thanks,
    Heather Burke
