Now Accepting Handshake Partnership 2013 applications - Suspense 1 October 2012
Chief Operations, Rich Lockwood, signed the attached memorandum announcing the Handshake Partnership Program for 2013. The program is in its tenth year and offers an additional funding source (i.e., seed money up to $30,000 per project) to Corps installations for worthwhile partnership projects. This funding can be used for both recreation and environmental stewardship partnerships.

Electronic applications with district and MSC coordination must be received by Allen Gwinn, NAD representative on the Partnership Advisory Committee, NLT 01 October 2012. The memo and application are forwarded by e- mail and will be posted to the NRM Gateway to expedite distribution. Examples of past applications and agreements are also posted on the site. http://corp slakes.usace.army.mil/employees/handshake/agreements.cfm

Webinars will be conducted in late July and mid-September to assist applicants with the process. (Dates TBD, but tentatively scheduled for July 30 and September 12.) Call-in/Web meeting information will be sent at a later date.

Please support and encourage participation in this program. We encourage a diversity of applications that represent a broad range of projects. To assist in outreach to potential partners, the Partnership Advisory Committee has developed the attached information sheet to provide examples, facts, and success stories from the Handshake program.

The point of contact for this effort is Mr. Allen Gwinn, NAD Partnership Advisory Committee member, (814) 658-6810

    Thank you,
    Heather Burke
