120 Day Detail--National Water Safety Program Manager Announcement. Suspense 13 March 2012
Applications are now being accepted for a 120 day temporary detail as the Program Managers for the Water Safety National Operations Center (vice Lynda Nutt). The assignment period is 1 April 2012 to 30 July 2012.
This is a virtual position where the person will be stationed at his/her current duty locations, but will be working full time (100%) for the HQUSACE water safety program. Salary will be covered. The position will not involve a temporary promotion. Applicants should be GS 12 or 13.
Applicants will send a 1 page summary (no more than 1 page will be accepted) of applicable public/water safety work experience at local, regional, or national levels. Summary must contain an statement that the employee's supervisor is fully supportive of the 120 day temporary assignment.

Job Description Summary:
Works under the general supervision of the Chief, Natural Resources Management Branch, HQUSACE. Serves as the HQUSACE Program Manager for the National Operations Center for Water Safety and the POC for all national water safety program activities. Responsible for managing the national program targeted at education and implementation of water safety programs, partnerships and initiatives throughout the Corps.
Chairs the national Water Safety Products Advisory PDT and coordinates the FY12 water safety products program.
Leads and coordinates current national initiatives including the Life Jacket Policy Study and the HQUSACE directive to reduce public fatalities in FY12 by 50%.
Explores and fosters working and partnering relationships with Corps and non-Corps elements to broading the effectiveness of the Corps water safety program. Serves as a consultant with regard to water safety for all Divisions and Districts within the Corps.
