Directions and Factoids
Directions: The US Army Corps of Engineers, Arkansas Post Field Office is the Recreation and Natural Resources Management Office that manages camping and recreation facilities within Pool 1 of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System (MKARNS). This office is located 47 miles south of Stuttgart, AR and approximately 43 miles Northeast of Dumas, AR. The MKARNS-Pool 1 is a 3 mile stretch of the Arkansas Post Canal that begins at the confluence of the Arkansas Post Canal and White River at Norrell Lock and Dam 1, River Mile 10.3 and concludes at Lock 2, River Mile 13.3

Factoid: Arkansas River- Norrell Pool 1 is located on the man-made Arkansas Post Canal that connects the Arkansas River with the White River. Recreationists have the opportunity to access the White River from Wild Goose Launch in Norrell Pool 1. Visitors looking for overnight camping can find modern amenities in Merrisach Lake Park near Lock No. 2; and Wilbur D. Mills and Pendleton Bend Parks are located nearby in Wilbur D. Mills Pool 2 upstream from the dam. World-class bass and crappie fishing is nearby in the tailwaters of the Wilbur D. Mills Dam 2 provide excellent opportunities to catch catfish. In the area visitors can experience history at the Arkansas Post National Memorial.
