This is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineer managed lake, however the recreation areas and campgrounds are managed by New Mexico State Parks. Federal Recreation Passports for these areas are not accepted.

Directions and Factoids
Directions: 34 mi NW of Tucumari on NM 104. 25 mi N of Newkirk on NM 129 and then E on NM 104. 77 mi E of Las Vegas on NM 104. 140 mi E of Albuquerque (I-40 to Newkirk), 130 miles W of Amarillo (I-40 to Tucumcari), and 100 mi SE of Santa Fe (I-25 to Las Vegas).

Factoid: Conchas Lake is located in the East Central part of San Miguel County and within the boundaries of the Pablo Montoya Grant. The lake extends 11 miles Southwest along the Conchas River and Northwest of the South Canadian River for approximately 14 miles. The dam is located just below the confluence of the Conchas and South Canadian Rivers. The dam controls a drainage area of 7,409 square miles. Conchas Lake was constructed primarily to provide flood control and water storage for irrigation. Today recreation is added to the many missions that occur at Conchas. Conchas Lake manages a Recreation area including 20 campsites, a public boat ramp, day use area, restrooms, and a large parking area
