Directions and Factoids
Directions: McAlpine Locks & Dam is located in Louisville, KY. Exit I64 at the 22nd Street exit. Head west on either Northwestern Parkway or Portland Avenue. Turn right (north) on N. 27th Street. Either continue under railroad tracks to McAlpine Locks or turn right to access McAlpine Locks via N. 26th Street.

Factoid: McAlpine Locks has a 37' elevation change between the upper and lower pools which is the largest of all the Locks on the Ohio River. The Lock area features a walkway with interpretive panels and a viewing platform overlooking the landward lock.

NOTICE: Many states are discouraging or banning movement of firewood to control spread of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB).
