Directions and Factoids
Directions: Located 90 miles southeast of Louisville via I-65 and KY 61, 210, and 55 south.
Factoid: Green River Lake is the largest project in the Louisville District, counting both the land
and water acreage (33,793 acres). The Green River is the longest river, at 370 miles, to
flow completely within the Commonwealth of Kentucky's borders. Green River Lake also is
home to the first Interpretative Center, opened in 1972, in the Louisville Engineer
District. The Corps manages three campgrounds at the lake and also has multiple beaches,
boat ramps, playgrounds and picnic areas for the recreating public to enjoy. Green River
Lake is unique in that it has no shoreline management, therefore the shoreline surrounding
the lake is natural and makes for a very scenic recreation spot.
NOTICE: Many states are discouraging or banning movement of firewood to control spread of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Not bringing wood from home to your campsite and not taking unused wood you procure while camping home with you is recommended -- required in some states.
