Story: The Colorado Division of Wildlife and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have been partnering the T.E.N. Program (Teaching Environmental Science Naturally) since 2000. Teachers from across southeast Colorado are invited to participate in a weeklong summer class that emphasizes using the outdoors as their classroom for teaching sciences. The teachers are taken to different federal- and state-managed lands throughout the area and partake in specially designed activities that are targeted for specific K-12 class levels. Subjects covered are wetlands, hydrology, water quality, endangered species, and cultural resources. Teachers also receive credits for state recertification. Each subject taught meets state standards.
