Directions & Lake History/Factoid
Directions: To Bardwell Lake Headquarters Office, from Dallas head south on I-45 towards Houston. Head 36.4 miles to exit 247, US-287 North/Congressman Joe Barton Parkway towards Waxahachie/ Ft. Worth. Head north 3.4 miles to Ensign Rd. Turn left and go 1.5 miles to Observation Dr. Turn right on Observation Dr. and go 1.5 miles to the Bardwell Lake Headquarters Office.

  • To Love Park Swim Beach and Boat Ramp, from Dallas head south on I-45 towards Houston. Head 36.4 miles to exit 247, US-287 north/Congressman Joe Barton Parkway towards Waxahachie/ Ft. Worth. Head North 4.1 miles to the Kaufman/Italy exit that leads to intersection of Texas State Highway 34. Left on Texas State Highway 34 heading southwest .2 miles to Lake View road. Turn left on Lake View and follow 2 miles to the intersection of Beach Road. Go straight on Beach road .04 miles to the Love Park entrance.
  • To High View Park campground and marina, from Dallas head south on I-45 towards Houston. Head 36.4 miles to exit 247, US-287 north/Congressman Joe Barton Parkway towards Waxahachie/ Ft.Worth. Head north 4.1 miles to the Kaufman/Italy exit that leads to intersection of Texas State Highway 34. Turn left on Texas State Highway 34 heading southwest 2.4 miles to High View Road. Park is located .03 miles at the end of the road.
  • To Waxahachie Creek Park, from Dallas head south on I-45 towards Houston. Head 36.4 miles to exit 247, US-287 north/Congressman Joe Barton Parkway towards Waxahachie/ Ft. Worth. Head north 4.1 miles to Kaufman/Italy exit that leads to intersection of Texas State Highway 34. Turn left on Texas State Highway 34 heading southwest 2.9 miles to Bozek Rd. Turn right on Bozek Road. Park is 1.5 miles at the end of Bozek road.
  • To Mott Park from Dallas head south on I-45 towards Houston. Head 36.4 miles to exit 247, US-287 North/Congressman Joe Barton Parkway towards Waxahachie/ Ft. Worth. Head North 4.1 miles to Kaufman/Italy exit that leads to intersection of Texas State Highway 34. Left on Texas State Highway 34 heading southwest 4.9 miles to FM 985. Turn left on FM 985, go 1.4 miles , Mott Park will be on the left.

    Lake History

    Factoid: Bardwell Lake is located in the Blackland Prairie region of southwestern Ellis County. Built in 1965 for flood control by the US Army Corps of Engineers, Bardwell Lake is located two miles southwest of Ennis off of State Highway 34. The US Army Corps of Engineers offers a wide variety of recreation to visitors. Camping, fishing, and picnicking are just a few of the recreational opportunities offered at Bardwell Lake.
