VERS Software

The VERS program is a tool for estimating recreation visits, visitor hours, and activities at Corps of Engineers recreation areas. The ongoing VERS modernization has resulted in an on- line updating and reporting system. This new software is being developed in phases.

Information about the new VERS tool is available on the Gateway along with the historical VERS information - http://corpslakes. usace.army.mil/employees/usurveys/usurveys.cfm

If you need background information before you begin, this link describes the VERS modernization effort.

Training will cover three important areas for determining visitation for each project site area:

  • Monitoring Method update/identify meter types (pneumatic, seismic, etc.), one way or two way traffic and other meter type info.
  • Area Characteristics identify special characteristics about an area that may influence the type of visitation
  • Facilities identify facilities such as campsites, picnic sites, swim beaches, behind each meter

This information is needed before FY13 visitation may be calculated. Deadline for entering this information into the new software is 31 January 2014.

Please email Dena Williams, if you have questions.

Meter Readings

Please continue to collect and store October, November, and December meter readings. Those will be entered into the new software after the above mentioned areas are completed.
