Corps Lakes Data & Recreation.gov Care and Feeding

Do you realize that by keeping your OMBIL data accurate and up to date you are also keeping information fresh on two popular websites used by the public? You have recently updated your lakes OMBIL data and PSA names. Without any additional effort on your part, that updated information is loaded into the Corps Lakes website which in turn feeds the Recreation.Gov website.

Corps Lakes Mobile Site

Did you know that there is a mobile version of the Corps Lakes site? Simply go to the Corps Lakes site on your phone, and the "Corps Lakes On The Go" version will load. If you add it as a bookmark to your home screen, an icon that looks like an app will appear for convenient future access to the site.

Recreation.gov update

Please visit Recreation.gov to see the new look and feel that has been phased in over the past year. The site has more color graphics and photos, and from each lake page you can go directly to NRRS campground reservations where applicable. You are encouraged to submit photos and stories to highlight other (non-reservable) recreation areas at your lake. Submit through Corps Lakes and the information will also appear on Recreation.gov.

See next article for details on how to submit items through Corps Lakes.

Submit to Corps Lakes for Sharing

Here are the ways to submit information to Corps Lakes for sharing. Besides use on the Corps Lakes and Recreation.gov websites, these are the avenues to submit items for the national Corps Facebook page and YouTube channel:

Photos

  • You can send photos for addition to the Corps Lakes Photo Albums by email to CorpsLakes@usace.army.mil.
  • Photos within Corps Lakes Photo album are also used within Recreation.gov
  • The lake pages within Recreation.gov can house up to 6 rotating photos.
  • We are always interested in getting more quality items for that a variety of other uses.
  • Guidance on photo submissions is outlined here: http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/glimpse.cfm? Step=Title&Id=24&Title=24
