Lake Discovery Prototype Survey - Response due 7 May 2010The Natural Resources Management (NRM) Gateway Team requests your support in completing an on-line survey about the NRM Gateway, specifically to evaluate prototypes for "Lake Discovery." Once developed, Lake Discovery will provide an integrated system of management components of an operating project (e.g. campground management, forest management). If you are selected to receive the survey, it will come to you in the next few days via email, subject: "NRM Gateway/Lake Discovery Website Prototype Survey" from sender "propst@msu.edu." The survey is being administered by Michigan State University. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, and responses are due by Friday, 7 May 2010. Your opinions are very important and we encourage you to complete the survey if you receive it. If you have technical questions about the survey, please contact David Dilworth at dilwort1@msu.edu. If you have NRM Gateway questions you can contact Kathleen Perales at Kathleen.Perales@usace.army.mil. Corps Lakes Gateway - Summer is Coming!Summer recreation season is here! Per the memo from Michael Ensch (Subject: Implementation of the comment card system for corps recreation program for 2008 and beyond), FY10 is a mandatory comment card year. The scheduling tool is set-up to run from March 2010 through May 2011, and for our purposes this will serve as the mandatory period. In addition, the comment cards have been updated with features allowing you to type in the name of your area, date and other information before printing the cards. Visit the gateway and being planning for your comment cards now! Have you read the Roadmap? In 2009, HQUSACE, Operations Division distributed a new plan for charting the agencys civil recreation future. This plan, called the National Recreation Program "Road Map," acknowledges that unpredictable trends in appropriations for recreation cannot sustain the program as we know it today. The Road Map identifies initial actions to be undertaken over the next three years in order to establish information, data, tools, and a planning foundation for creating a program that can adapt to changing conditions. The Road Map also includes the development of a Long Term Strategic Plan to transform and guide the recreation program into future. New Stories on HQ Web PagesThe Recreation Program info on the HQ website was recently updated to include rotating stories about partnerships, events, programs and other successes of the program. Do you have a story to tell? Contact Meredith Bridgers for more information. Check out the Recreation information on the HQ website POC: Meredith.bridgers@usace.army.mil, 703-428-8458 |
