2017 NRM Workshop Presentations

Visit the NRM Gateway to view the presentations from NRM Workshop that was held from 18-20 April 2017 in Norman, OK. Mary Coulombe's email below describes the scope of the workshop and information presented:

The NRM Workshop was held from 18-20 April and more than 330 Natural Resources Management (NRM) employees attended it in Norman, OK. We couldn't have all of our NRM CoP staff attend, but the presentations that were given at the workshop are now available on-line! There was so much information and discussion, and we believe that these presentations offer considerable opportunities for NRM (and others) staff to learn, share, and expand your networks.

The Workshop had a VERY distinct and important purpose: To strengthen technical competencies for park rangers and NRM staff from all levels of the agency. The agenda included presentations on recreation, natural resources management, environmental compliance/sustainability best practices, existing and new technologies, knowledge and skills in public safety and management techniques, interpretation and education, building partnerships, and expanding volunteer programs. The workshop fostered learning, sharing of experiences, and reinforced key policy and program concepts and strategies within the NRM CoP. The workshop provided the opportunity to ensure employees are well equipped to carry out the statutory authorities (e.g. Title 36), Executive Orders, and other duties in the most efficient and cost effective ways.

To foster continued learning throughout the entire NRM CoP, we have posted all of the workshop presentations on the NRM Gateway: https://corpslakes.erdc.dren.mil/employees/conference-list.cfm? Id=17National&Type=Conf. The workshop agenda can also be found at the top of the page.

About the Share the Experience Photo Contest
In May each year, amateur photographers are encouraged to enter their best images of the memories they create across millions of acres of public lands and waters in the Share the Experience photo contest. They compete for a chance to win more than $30,000 in cash and prizes and the grand prize winner is featured on the America the Beautiful: The National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Annual Pass. The top sponsors for the 2016 contest were Active Network, Historic Hotels of America® and Celestron, all of which contributed to the wealth of cash and prizes offered for the winning photos. Of the more than 16,000 photos entered in 2016, this years winning images were inspired by interesting wildlife, shared adventures and stunning landscapes.

Each year three grand prize winners are chosen for the top prizes of $10,000, $5,000 and $3,000 respectively, a voucher to stay in a Historic Hotel of America® and an Annual Pass, among other sponsored prizes.
