Wild Pigs on USACE Projects: Management Challenges, Research Opportunities and Lessons Learned

    Controlling invasive wild pigs is a challenge across the nation and this presentation will share wild hog experience from three different USACE districts. Dr. Beane introduces these challenges and discuss the research opportunities that are available to improve wild pig management and control efforts. Then from SWF, we discuss lessons learned from management techniques and methods they have tried over the years as well as local challenges and future directions. SWT provides an overview of their fledgling Tulsa District Feral Swine Damage Management Program, lessons learned, and the challenges of establishing a district feral swine management program. Lastly MVS shares the importance of making good management decisions as related to feral hogs, the importance of creating partnerships and strategic planning.
