Cuban bulrush has been in the United States for over a century and continues to spread across the southeastern U.S. Cuban bulrush is a floating aquatic plant species that needs other floating plants or objects to establish. However, once established, it rapidly outcompetes other plant species like water hyacinth and forms monotypic floating islands. In this presentation, we review basic Cuban bulrush biology, starch allocation patterns, and mesocosm based chemical control strategies. |
